CalFresh Nutrition Education Program
Growing Healthy Familes
UC Cal Fresh Nutrition Education Program (formerly FSNEP), inspire and empower families and individuals to lead healthier lives by teaching them to eat well, stretch their food dollars, and handle food safely. The programs are federally funded by the USDA, and are administered by the University of California Cooperative Extension. We act as a vital bridge between the learning and knowledge of the UC system and our community, tailoring the latest science, curriculum and information to the needs, culture and language of our low-income communities. Our goal is to improve the food choices of school children and their families through education and encouragement to make healthy choices and be more physically active.
We also collaborate with local agencies serving limited-resource families such as youth opportunity centers, migrant education, homeless shelters and Cal Fresh offices.
Our Staff
The UCCE Kings County Cal Fresh staff is dedicated to working with families, schools and agencies to deliver lessons and activities that support making healthful eating and fitness choices. Our local staff is supported by experts from the University of California who are on the cutting-edge of the latest research and curriculum design.
Several times a year, workshops are offered on nutrition and other topics. Designed to address issues of interest to those working in health, education and social services, programs feature knowledgeable UC professionals and research-based resources.
Please contact our office to discuss what options would work best for you!
